Fire at Clear Creek CCC Camp Kills Three Boys
In Norris Tennessee the Clear Creek CCC camp fire in ten degree weather killed three boys and injured many as a high wind swept flames through the hillside camp. Officers estimated $12,000 in damage and began roll checks to identify victims including Jacob Klein and Elwood Kramer with uncertain IDs. The unit was commanded by Captain Douglass Maype of Buffalo New York.
