A Friday hearing by the Public Service Commission of Indiana on a Stucker Fork Conservancy District request to raise water rates for Jackson Jennings Scott and Clark counties ended without a ruling. Austin residents and officials urged moving the hearing to Scott County and signing a petition by 1,000 water users. Odor Detected From Gas Line Near Rockford Area
A strong odor from a chemical additive leaked from a Texas Eastern Gas line north of Rockford on US 31 prompted police and company officials to respond. Indiana Gas Co officials in Seymour said the odor came from an O ring on new equipment at the Texas Eastern station. The additive detects natural gas and is added at about one pound per 15 million cubic feet. Residents urged to notify Indiana Gas if odor is detected inside a home or confined space.

Crothersville Chorus Presents Night of Miracles Cantata
About 225 attendees filled Crothersville High School for a community Christmas service. A 30 voice Crothersville Community Choir conducted by M Dean Hammond performed John W Petersons Night of Miracles with Rhonda Hunt Doris Kovener Trena Stout Janet Hendricks Jim Mitchell Scott Kovener as soloists and Rebecca Hammond at the piano. Ministers from local churches led invocation scripture reading and prayers. After the program chorus members joined at the Hammond home for punch and cake.
