Voss Mortuary Senior Undergoes Leg Amputation
Walter Voss of the Voss Mortuary underwent a two stage medical procedure at St Marys Hospital Rochester Minnesota. He had a right leg amputation just above the knee on Thursday and is reported to be recovering well and to return home later this month. Indiana five acre corn title winner honored at Brownstown banquet
Carter Fultz of Kurtz Jackson county corn club champion 1954 will be honored with other top growers at a Wednesday night banquet in Brownstown. He placed tenth in Indiana with 177.8 bushels per acre. A. J. Custer Auburn DeKalb county won the senior five acre championship with 241 bu per acre, the highest in 40 years. Second high yield was Russell Housel 219 bu per acre. The Purdue agronomy department and Indiana Corn Growers Association sponsor the contest.

The frozen body of Mrs. Fannie Hanner, 75, was found at the rear of her Heltonville home early Friday. Coroner Dr. R. E. Wynne ruled a heart attack caused death with no exposure factor. Coal tools near the body suggest she collapsed on her way to a pile. Survived by two sons, a brother, and two sisters, funeral plans unspecified.
