Brown county authorities report four young men died from carbon monoxide fumes in a parked car near the Jackson Brown line after Thanksgiving night. A bent exhaust pipe under the rear seat sent fumes into the vehicle while the occupants were inside, with Paul E. Logston the sole survivor.

Leland A. Seaver died early today at Schneck Memorial Hospital after two weeks of illness. The 43 year old farmer and lifelong Scott county resident was born May 22 1909 in the county to Arthur F and Fern Foster Seaver. He was unmarried and a Wesley Chapel Methodist Church member. Funeral services are set for Sunday at 1 30 pm at the Seaver home and 2 pm at the Wesley Chapel Church with Rev. Walter Moseley officiating. Burial will be in Wesley Chapel Cemetery. Friends may call Kovener Funeral Home Crothersville after 4 pm Friday until noon Saturday and then at the Seaver home.

County Officials Attend State Meet in Indianapolis
Jackson county officials attended the Indiana Association of County Commissioners convention in Indianapolis. The group ratified a five point legislative program for the 1953 General Assembly including a two cent gas tax rise, a weight distance truck tax, salary adjustments, a statewide bounty for predatory animals, and local option on using motor vehicle funds for road work. Technical Sergeant Jesse Mackey of Seymour received the Bronze Star at Pensacola for heroism with a Marine infantry unit in Korea. Major W. E. Vance presented the award. Mackey led a patrol against about 60 enemy troops under heavy fire, silenced an enemy weapon, and pressed the assault.
