Medora Welcomes Santa in Large Christmas Parade

About 2,000 residents filled Main Street as Medora held its annual Christmas Parade with 25 units. Top floats included the Spanish Club sponsored by State Bank of Medora and the Medora High School junior class float sponsored by Randy's Market. Parade grand marshal was retired Medora teacher Mrs. Lucille Melton.

Accidents Reported in Jackson County Saturday

State police logged multiple crashes in Jackson County on Saturday morning. Dennis W. Ryan, 22, of Columbus, fell asleep at the wheel on Ind 258 injuring a sign and his car. Nedra D. Brown, 24, of Louisville, lost control on ice on Interstate 65 near Crothersville, injuring her car. Erwina S. Warner, 20, of Indianapolis, skidded on Walnut Street into a southbound car driven by Leon Kiel. A separate two car crash occurred at Third Street and Broadway involving Blanche Coryell, 54, and another driver.

Escapee Peterson Shot by Indiana Deputy in Feeder Mill Arrest

George T. Peterson an escapee from the Federal Penitentiary was in intensive care at Terre Haute city hospital after being wounded Sunday by Vigo County Sheriff Deputy Paul Wright. Wright said Peterson was shot twice during a scuffle at a Libertyville feed mill when an arrest attempt failed.

Arab oil embargo holds as ministers demand Israel withdrawal

The Christmas Basket Fund, in its 55th year, surpassed $500 with $125 in weekend donations. Co sponsored by the Daily Tribune and Seymour American Legion Post 89, the drive supports baskets of groceries for needy Seymour families. Contributions are urged soon as ten day drive continues and baskets depended on total funds.

Colder Air To Replace Snow Flurries Tonight

Snow flurries seen in Seymour and nearby areas are expected to fade as colder air moves across Indiana. No accumulation predicted by the National Weather Service. a trace was recorded at Rockford by 7 am.
