Local Firemen Quell Two Grass Blazes
City firemen extinguished two grass fires Thursday afternoon. They answered an alarm at 12 50 p m in the 400 block of Manor Drive where a trash fire spread to grass. A second alarm was at the rear of the Colony Chef 1117 East Tipton street where another trash blaze got out of control.

Three Die In U S 31 Head On Crash Near Columbus
Two Seymour area men and a Columbus woman died in a 6 30 am head on collision on a rain slick U S 31 near the Indiana 7 junction in Bartholomew County. Marvin Hildebrand 29 and Orville Zumhingst 39 of Seymour died from internal injuries and a severed leg respectively while Mrs Florence Denny 30 of Columbus was killed. State police said Zumhingst and Hildebrand were en route to work at a Columbus factory and that the wreck caused extensive front end damage to both cars. Funeral services and survivor details were announced for the men with the woman's name withheld pending notification of kin. The crash remained under investigation by state police and local sheriffs officials.

The Shields Lee High School music department directed by Mrs. Mary Jane Perry and Earl Prout presented choirs from seventh eighth and freshman classes performing A Christmas Carol and seasonal songs.

St Johns White Creek Plans Parsonage Dedication
St Johns Lutheran Church White Creek will dedicate a new three bedroom brick parsonage after Sunday worship. An open house will follow from 2 to 4 p m.
