Burglars hit two Freetown businesses on Friday night taking about 650 in cash along with two dozen leather gloves three dozen Jersey gloves an electric heater and other items from the Davidson Feed Mill and Butler Restaurant Investigators Detective First Sgt Harry Mc Millin and Sheriff Lester E Greathouse traced the break ins noting entries through a side door at the feed mill and a drilled back door panel at the restaurant.

Brownstown Christmas Parade Draws Nearly 2000
Nearly 2000 spectators lined Brownstown streets for the Second annual Christmas parade sponsored by the Brownstown Jaycees. nineteen units marched including four floats three high school bands from Brownstown Central Medora and Pekin with Santa Claus on the final float. parade marshal Robert Gillespie led the procession which featured a comic bucking car from Salem and horses from the Wallonia Saddle Club. Santa remained afterward giving treats and scheduling appearances through December at Brownstown and Ewing.

Sailor held in AWOL case linked to slain Franklin man
A 19 year old sailor held in New London Conn on an AWOL charge was found with the driver's license and car registration of James H. Smith a 23 year old Franklin man killed last summer. Smith's body was found July 12 near Washington Pa. A Seymour man identified the victim via class ring and watch. FBI said the car was believed stolen and the suspect would be questioned after Navy handles AWOL charges.
