Driver Wrecks Car While Fleeing State Police Chase
State police from Seymour Post No 7 boosted highway safety with a Cortland speed check Friday night. Frederick H. Mellenbruch 26 Seymour R2 pleaded guilty to speeding disregarding a police officer and reckless driving, fined 66 25 and a 90 day license suspension recommended. His car wrecked northwest of Cortland after pursuit reaching speeds to 85 mph. no injuries. Over 10 motorists cited for speeding in the posted zone during the check from 4 to 7 pm Friday.

Trio Arrested In Tennessee In Hammond Bank Robbery Case
Three men charged with a $21,000 Hammond Indiana bank robbery were ordered held without bond in Hamilton County jail awaiting removal proceedings. Thomas Ray Patrick 23 of Salyersville John Walter Marcrom 25 of Viola Tennessee and Carl George Smith Jr 31 of Boston Massachusetts were arrested near Pelham and McMinnville Tennessee and at a Hammond branch bank robbery the same day. Authorities said warrants were issued under federal bank statute and are reviewing possible ties to a November 23 Hoosier State Bank Woodnt Branch robbery in Hammond.

The body of Carolyn Marie Nevins, 20, a University of Omaha coed and part time employee, was found in the university driveway with four gunshot wounds. Police say she worked until about 10 pm Friday and likely died shortly after leaving the campus alone.
