Truck Driver Fined for Overweight Hauling in Brownstown
Kenneth Nussbaum pleaded guilty in Jack Circuit Court to operating a truck overweight by 200 pounds. Judge George H. Gossman imposed a $532.56 fine plus $12.56 costs after arrest by Officer Jack Curry of the Seymour state police post Friday in Brownstown.

No One Hurt in Crash On U. S. Highway 31
No injuries were reported after a sideswipe collision on U S Highway 31 a mile south of Reddington on Thursday night. A 1949 two door sedan driven by Fred R Spurlin of 527 South Chestnut Street traveled south while a 1941 coach driven north by Cris Dale Ritz of Seymour RI met head side. Officer Lawrence Conway investigated for the Seymour state police post.

Work Halts on Ninth Street Sewer Project
City officials announce halt on the Ninth street sewer project due to a soil condition under the Pennsylvania Railroad. Work will resume after January 1 when funds can be appropriated and new equipment secured, with completion expected next March if weather allows. Fire destroys home near Wegan in Brownstown area
A blaze late Friday afternoon destroyed the two story residence of Mr and Mrs Henry Redicker of Brownstown R2 near Wegan Lutheran Church. The roof fire, possibly from a defective flue, left the home a total loss but the family and volunteers saved most contents. Mrs Redicker was ironing when the fire was discovered by two passing men who alerted her.
