Landreth Charged with Murder Arranged Before Judge Cox
Lawrence county grand jury found John Landreth guilty of first degree murder for the November 26 slaying of Roswell Shields near Bedford Georgia. Landreth to be arraigned before Judge Cox. his wife Mrs. John Landreth was asked questions, some of which related to privileged communications, and she largely declined to answer. A northwest county farmer violated a Brownstown ordinance by selling produce from his truck. Deputy Sheriff Glen Thompson warned him to move on, then Town Marshal John Russell and Justice Mackey fined him. Farm Bureau members report strong early results from a membership drive begun last week in townships across the county. Uncle of Mrs Williams Dies in Indianapolis
C C Winterberg aged 93, uncle of Mrs J L Williams of this city, died at his daughter Mrs Charles W Winterberg's home 2056 Central avenue Indianapolis at 2 30 pm Monday. He was also uncle of Walter Winterberg a shoe merchant of Edinburg who died Sunday. Funeral services were held in Indianapolis and the body taken to Edinburg for burial. He was born in Glandorf Germany January 6 1831 and came to America at 16. He worked as a confectioner in Edinburg until retiring five years ago.
