The weather bureau forecasts a warm-up tonight and Saturday but sleet or light snow accompanies the rise in temperatures. Readings fell to 14 degrees, the season's lowest since February, with 31 degrees downtown at noon and a forecast low between 20 and 28 tonight.
Sunday morning at 10 15 o clock the Central Christian Church will honor all women with a special observance. Rev George L Florence announced guest speaker Mrs B H Bruner of Indianapolis secretary of the Indiana Womens Christian Missionary Society. Bruner arrived September 1 to become state secretary after seven years in West Virginia. She is an Oberlin graduate who taught at Muskingum College.
Word has been received of the death of an infant son born to Mr. and Mrs. C. F. Halbert of Long Island New York on December 3 at South Nassau Hospital. The baby weighed one pound six ounces at birth and lived five hours in an incubator. Burial was in Greenfield Cemetery Hempstead Long Island. Mrs Halbert was formerly Miss Jo Allen Abel of this city, daughter of Mrs Mary Abel West Fifth street.
John Marsing aged 66 was found dead in bed at the home of Low Wil hote NW of Hayden Tuesday morning. He had taken tablets for a back head pain prior to his death and was reported in usual health when he went to bed Monday night. Funeral arrangements await word from relatives.
J. Ralph Thompson will address the Men's Class of the First Presbyterian Church next Tuesday night December 13. A dinner will be served in the community room at 6 o'clock. Kodachrome pictures from his European trip will be shown and Boy Scout members will attend as guests.
Miss Gaynelle Moritz of Jackson county recorder was reelected organization treasurer at a gathering of Indiana county recorders in Indianapolis. William Carter of Bartholomew county was elected southern vice-president as the group met with the state County and Township Officials Association. Jackson county officials James Cummings Ed Miller Martin Bergsieker Donley Hill and Earl Singer attended. Ziba McMahan and his daughters joined the county homes group. Otto K Jensen spoke on new 1949 General Assembly laws affecting recorders and promised a special school for recorders next spring or summer.
Charles A. Bard of Crothersville was elected to a fifth term as commander of Seymour Commandery No. 56 Knights Templar at the 1950 officers election in the Masonic Temple. Harry H. McDonald of Seymour was chosen for his 23rd consecutive term as recorder with other officers named.
J Ralph Thompson outlined a five week European tour with the State Chamber of Commerce party. He said most Europeans view the United States as chosen land and urged pressure to maintain leadership and peace. The talk covered Oslo to Sweden and visits to Holland Belgium Germany Italy Switzerland and France.
An Indiana Gas and Water Company official said a Panhandle Eastern pipeline explosion near Centralia Illinois would not cut Seymour gas supplies. He reported normal pressure this morning and no expected shortage despite the Centralia blast and fire that leveled a 24 inch line causing about $100,000 in damage and affecting eastern supplies for days.
The Jackson County Tuberculosis Association reports receipts of 1767 75 from the annual Christmas seal and health bond sale led by Eva M Frost executive secretary. The drive opened November 21 and runs to Christmas Day with mailed payments continuing daily and school campaign nearly complete. Directors plan calls after December 10 for late remittances as bonds were mailed this year to save time.

Santa Claus will personally appear at his headquarters on the Seymour postoffice lawn from 2:45 to 4 PM Saturday. Interviews with Santa will be amplified in the business district. A chorus and other musical programs are set at the Christmas Community Center through December 24 with daily Santa visits in the afternoons.
The Au gust Faubel led Aid Association for Lutherans staff will gather for a 10 o clock Saturday meeting on December 10, ending with a Christmas dinner at Seymour Country Club. The society reports over $500 million in insurance in force, ledger assets above $114 million, and 3125 local branches across the United States and Canada. Willard Bosse serves as local agent with attendees from Valparaiso Hammond Rensselaer Indianapolis Evansville Bedford Columbus Louisville New Albany and Aurora expected.
Jennings County Artificial Breeders Association holds its annual meeting Monday night at the Jennings county courthouse in Vernon. Speakers include Dr. R. W. Elrod state veterinarian Dr. C. R. Denham chief veterinarian at Purdue University P I Hitley director of the Indiana Artificial Breeders Association and J Ralph Thompson of this city. Otis Ruddick president invites dairymen and wives to attend as the program benefits both members and non members.
Russell Scott of Medora was fined $10 and costs totaling $20 and received a 60 day sentence at the state penal farm. Mayor Donald L. Herwig presided after Scott pleaded guilty to the public intoxication charge, arrested by city police.
Funeral services for Mrs. Alta Robison 66 of 815 North O Brien street who died Thursday night at Schneck Memorial Hospital will be held Saturday at 2 pm from Hayden Methodist Church. Dr. John L. Prentice and Dr. A A Cohn will officiate. Burial will be in Hayden Cemetery. Friends may call at Voss Mortuary after 7 pm tonight. Mrs Robison born February 16 1883 in Clinton county was married December 24 1910 to Ross M Robison who survives. The couple moved to Jackson county seven years ago from Jennings county where they had lived since 1919. She was a member of the Geetingsville Presbyterian Church and is survived by her husband two children Maurice Eldon Robison North Vernon and Velma Eades at home one brother Lloyd Wilson Geetingsville and seven grandchildren.

No injuries reported after a collision on U S 31, about .2 mile south of the U S 50 junction east of Seymour. Frederick William Miller, 602 Lynn Street, driving a 1946 jeep with trailer, turned left as a 1947 tractor and semi-trailer, driven by John Carol Morgan of New Palestine, attempted to pass. The truck veered onto the berm to avoid impact. jeep damage about $100 and truck about $125.
Funeral services for Lawrence W. Cunningham aged 45 of Seymour will be held at 10 AM Saturday from Voss Mortuary with Rev. George L. Florence officiating. The Seymour machinist for Blish Milling Company died Tuesday night after an 11 year illness.
The Geminid Shower will light the skies from 8 p m until midnight with more than one meteor per minute. The National Bureau of Standards calls the four night event spectacular and visible nationwide tonight.
Rep J Parnell Thomas of New Jersey received six to 18 months in prison and a $10000 fine for padding his office payroll He was told by Federal Judge Alexander Holtzoff that he had a good World War I record His wife announced she would seek the congressional seat his resignation is in the mails and the sentence was delivered in Washington by a court he served in the House earlier
Indianapolis December 9 republicans seek county chairmen input on a demand for 20 percent federal spending cuts until expenditures fit living costs. The 11th District advisory committee drafted planks for the 1950 state platform urging more states rights in labor and protective tariffs. Joe Rand Beckett leads the committee and heads the Americanism department of the GOP state central committee.
Defense witnesses were heard this afternoon in Browns Town Jackson Circuit Court in the case of the State against Clancy Cross. Cross is charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of intoxicating liquor. A jury was obtained this morning and the state rested its case early this afternoon.
The Agoga Class of the First Baptist Church hosted its annual Christmas banquet with about 140 attendees in the church Fellowship Center. Fort Wayne pastor Rev. E L Olson spoke on Whats Right With the Church, noting the church has a Master a Message and a Mission, all right.
