Junk Yard Owners Fined in Contempt Case
Edison and Oscar Franklin operating Franklin Junk Yard were fined 50 dollars and given 90 days in jail on a contempt charge by Judge Eugene Hough in Jackson Circuit Court. A 15 day stay was granted to allow compliance with a 1969 1971 court order to purge three junk yard locations in Seymour of dismantled autos and junk.

A large Jackson County farm family delegation will attend the 55th annual Indiana Farm Bureau convention in Indianapolis Sunday to Tuesday. County president Richard Isaacs and county women's leader Mrs. Arthur Bishop head the group. Speakers include Earl L. Butz Otis R. Bowen George Coup Ralph Pickard and Roger Fleming. An awards program Monday night honors local Farm Bureau work and the Purdue Varsity Glee Club will perform. The convention covers committee reports a 1974 program and election of a state president and 16 delegates to the Atlantic City Farm Bureau meeting. The Rural Youth convention runs concurrent with a Sunday dinner program featuring R F Dutch Struck.

Explosion Victim Dies After Home Gas Blast
William H. Nieman 87 of Seymour died Friday at Jackson County Hospital after two explosions in his mobile home on Nov 20. A propane leak and a second LPG tank blast caused burns. he was a lifelong Jackson County resident and retired farmer with seven children.
