Jackson County Fair Board announced the 1965 committees led by Dr. G R Gillespie. The August 8 14 schedule is set with officials covering buildings grounds carnival catalog publicity public relations and masters of ceremonies. Additional groups include program entertainment grandstand industrial exhibits tents heavy machinery livestock auction and many livestock shows plus 4 H exhibits and a pig scramble. Donald Norman fills the Brownstown vacancy after Thomas Kieffer resignation. Board also backs a Rural Youth project for repainting the 4 H Building.

Christmas Basket Fund Opens With Strong First Day
The 45th annual Christmas Basket Fund drive, jointly led by Seymour American Legion Post 89 and the Seymour Daily Tribune, raised 57.25 on opening day, over three times last year’s 18. Funds support food and toys for needy Seymour families with baskets prepared by volunteers before Christmas. Contributions go to Leroy Pollett, treasurer, or to the Daily Tribune, or mailed to the Seymour National Bank. Request letters should be written, not telephoned, and families should apply via Christmas Basket Fund, 341 Calvin Boulevard. Toys to be renovated at Seymour Boys Club for inclusion.

Fronsoe to Close Wallonia Ministry on Sunday
The Rev Milton Fronsoe Sr and Mrs Fronsoe will end their ministry at Wallonia Christian Church this Sunday. They return to Cincinnati Ohio to pursue secular work and will be available for supply and interim ministries. They will reside at 3636 Muddy Creek Road after December 1.

Low Bidders Named for First Baptist Church Construction
Three firms received tentative awards for the $500000 First Baptist Church project on Sixth Street Drive. A.L. Young Co. Madison will handle general construction Dunlap Mechanical Co. Columbus will install plumbing and heating Bailey Electrical Co. Bedford will do electrical work. Ground-breaking occurred October 4 with plans to start in early spring.

In a Brownstown courthouse meeting the board approved Eastview subdivision near Seymour and another east of Seymour. Don Morris Ford won the county highway car bid at 1595 dollars with trade in a 1961 model. Printing supplies went to Graessle Mercer. Bedford bid was rejected for unsigned bond. The panel will decide on restoring I 65 approaches and Venus Road paving at a later date. Final 1964 meeting set for December 24 with remaining year claims.

Man Fined and Sentenced in Jackson Circuit Court
Robert E. Brewer pleaded guilty to three counts in two Brownstown police charges. Judge John M Lewis fined $10 and costs and gave 30 days at the state penal farm for public intoxication. A reckless driving count carried $10 and six months with the penalty suspended if damages are paid within 60 days. Leaving the scene of an accident drew $10 and costs and a six month license suspension. Brewer released Saturday and arrested Saturday afternoon. Jury panel for October term ordered to appear for trial of Robert E Abbott. Divorce granted Evelyn A Browning vs William Browning with child custody and support awarded. New civil suits include Temple Drilling Co vs Vernon Drilling for $9,740.50 and several note cases. New divorce filings list Kelly, Cunningham, Buttorff, and Lucas families with custody or separation details.

Seymour Man Pleads Guilty To False Burglary Report
John M. Frederick, 31, Seymour, admitted making a fictitious burglary report. He was arraigned in Jackson Circuit Court with judgment withheld until Wednesday, facing a possible fine and up to 60 days in jail. Frederick signed a statement admitting the false report.

A 19 year old Salem resident held on a forgery charge escaped today at Fredericksburg while showing police a cache of stolen goods.

Supersonic bomber fire at Bunker Hill base injures three
At Bunker Hill Air Force Base Indiana a B 58 Hustler carrying an unarmed nuclear device caught fire on a ramp. Three airmen were injured. Base commander Col Paul K Carlton said there was no nuclear danger and no radiation released.

Three youths fined after Seymour chase and crash
Seymour police arrested three youths injured in a Friday chase after an auto crash on U S 50. Ronald Donnells 18 faced three fines totaling 101.75 dollars with a six month license suspension and a suspended state farm term. Richard Abel 18 and James White 19 each paid 15 dollars plus 20 costs and six month state farm terms. Grover Hanners 22 was fined 1 dollar and 21.75 costs for speeding.
