Browns Town Woman Hurt In Crash Near Columbus
Mrs. Bernice Kenny formerly Miss Heller of Brownstown was treated at Schneck Memorial Hospital for head and spine injuries after the car driven by her husband skidded on wet pavement and overturned on U.S. Route 31 south of Columbus. William F. Surenkamp, age seventy eight, died at home 726 West McDonald Street after a two month illness with complications. A retired farmer and lifelong Jackson County resident, he was born October 16, 1860 in Sauers. Survived by widow Anna Lambring and eight children, with three sons predeceasing him, fourteen grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral 1:30 p.m. Saturday from home and 2 p.m. from Immanuel Lutheran Church, Rev. Eggers officiating. burial in Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call after 6 p.m. tonight.

Seymour Native Dies in Mishap on U S Road 50
Bird of Lebanon Indiana a Seymour native and state highway employee died early this morning when his 1935 sedan struck a bridge abutment on Road 50 west of Brownstown. He was 30 going on 31 and was returning to Bedford after a rabbit supper when the crash occurred. The Indiana Highway Commission worker had lived in Seymour and worked at the district office for about two months.

Fire damages city residence on East Ninth Street
A blaze severely damaged a living room at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Corman on East Ninth Street near Ewing. No one was home when discovered. the fire grew before firefighters arrived. A living room suite and front door were ruined. Smoke filled the house and a nearby grocery store in the same building. Sparks from a cigarette likely started the fire. The booster tank on the small truck leaked and was removed.
