U S Highway 50 Centerlining Progress Report
State highway crews center line U S Route 50 west of Wallonia as part of a district wide safety project. Road 31 near Seymour has been marked and the stretch south to the state line follows, with centerlining not needed east of the Road 31 junction this winter. A homemade centerlining machine applies cutback asphalt at about twenty five gallons per mile, completing roughly twenty miles daily, using a Columbus originated design now produced for sale. The machine aids daytime and nighttime visibility, warning drivers when crossing into the center lane.
