More than 5 000 people from Seymour and across Indiana attended a three hour open house at Seymour's new two million dollar modern senior high school following a formal dedicatory program. Winter cold grips the region with snow reports rising
Early today temperatures dropped to 25 degrees with drifting snow from Valparaiso to Angola and zero visibility at South Bend. Two inches on the ground at South Bend and light flurries elsewhere with a trace in the local area Sunday night. Weather officials forecast 40s by Tuesday and a light five day snow total.

Police investigate after Mrs Maxine Elkins talks an unidentified man in a leather coat out of abducting her Sunday near Brown's Grocery in the 200 block of North Vine Street. The would be kidnapper fled on foot after threatening to cut her throat.

Two deaths in weekend area traffic toll near Seymour
Orval Cooley 33 of Columbus died after being struck on U S 50 three miles west of Seymour by a 1957 car driven by James Sutherland. Cooley left a wife and six children and was a Cummins worker and World War II veteran. A second fatality was William McGaw 17, Columbus High School senior, in an Indiana 7 one car crash seven miles southeast of Columbus. The weekend toll notes 73 deaths in 61 fatal mishaps in the year so far in the Seymour post area.

Wrecks In County Cause $400 Damage
Two auto accidents in Jackson County Saturday caused $400 in damage to three cars with no injuries. A 1956 Brownstown sedan driven by Barton Maxie collided on a curve west of Tampico, causing $250 damage to both vehicles. A 1955 Hawn sedan sustained $100 damage, and a second driver suffered $150 damage to his car after skidding on a gravel road near Freetown.

Carton Of Cigarettes Stolen From Kitchen
Police investigated a larceny at Weston H. Wooten's home 121 South Broadway after a full carton of cigarettes disappeared from a kitchen cabinet. The theft occurred between noon and 5 p m while the house was empty. Wooten reported it at 8:35 p m Sunday. The loss was not noticed for about three and a half hours.
