Residents at the Jackson county infirmary are enjoying venison from a deer struck by Omer Rieckers near Seymour and Dudleytown. The doe weighing 250 to 300 pounds ran into the path of the car, breaking its back and two legs, and was destroyed. Rieckers assisted, and the venison was sent to the infirmary for residents.

$75 Fine for Drunk Driving
Arch Bailey of Washington county drew a $75 fine and costs in Jackson Circuit Court on a charge of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence. The case, tried before a jury, saw three state police officers testify. Bailey was arrested April 7 about four miles south of the city. This is among the heaviest fines for the offense in the county.
