Seymour's Owls suffered a seventh straight loss as Mitchell's Bluejackets pulled away on Friday night with a 45 to 27 victory. Seymour's shooting struggles persisted, while Mitchell relied on strong defense and fast transition play to secure the win.
Seymour high school split its Friday night games into three squads the Owls the Owlets and the Frosh with the Owls facing Mitchell Bluejackets in Mitchell the Owlets hosting Tampico Bobcats and the Frosh comprising freshmen taking on Mitchell reserves.
Mitchell outscored Shields 48 to 21 as the Jackets dominated the second half. Ramey led all scorers with 13 points amid a steady Mitchell attack, while Bud Belden added 12 for the Owls, who struggled from the field and the line throughout the game.
The All-America selections add eleven new members to the 1935 hall of fame, joining the first eleven plus two reserves to form a 33-man all star squad. George S. Clark age eighty seven prominent Seymour resident and longtime Odd Fellows member died at his home 627 North Walnut street at 7 30 o clock Friday night after a period of failing health He had been active in ritual work and received the Order of Chivalry in ceremonies at Indianapolis He is survived by four of five children and his wife Sarah Adelaide Doane Clark predeceased him in 1918 He moved to Seymour as a youth and remained a local leader in the lodge and affiliated groups.
Chief of Police Julius Harlow announced Seymour will enforce a ban on gambling slot machines. Only devices prohibited as gambling machines must be removed immediately. other types are not covered. Prosecutions will follow for owners continuing use and some machines already removed. The wheel-spinning type has faded amid a county wide clean up, but other kinds have appeared.
Health bond sales for tuberculosis relief continue as the Jackson County Tuberculosis Association conducts its annual Christmas seal sale. W H Hughes announces purchases including a $25.25 bond by Indiana Ox Fibre Brush Company employees and officials, and a $15 check from Sam B Wolf. The Home Economics Club of Wallonia buys a $5 bond, Driftwood Township Farm Bureau a $10 bond, with bond solicitors Mrs Jessie Wright and Mrs George Meyer active in Seymour.
Betty May Satti, three, believes in Santa. Police arrest her father Alfred J. Satti, 23, who is found dead in a police station cell with a belt around his neck. His wife Emma says he struggled to find work, relief money was erratic, and their home lacked heat after a fatal winter. A baby died last January from double pneumonia and the family faced ongoing poverty.
The Greeting Card Publishers Association offers do's and don'ts for festive cards. Send employer cards to the office, include mourners, avoid prefixing signatures, add a return address, and address envelopes by hand with ink. For red envelopes use white or green ink and note naming on joint signatures.
Automobile licenses will go on sale at the local branch office and statewide on Monday. Mail carriers are delivering extra license blanks from Indianapolis to speed issuance. Envelopes include two driving license applications to simplify processing at the bureau. The Redding Township Farm Bureau will meet Wednesday night December 11 at Reddington Christian Church. The Jackson County Tuberculosis Association oversees the program with Miss Leota May presenting. A young men’s orchestra will play and Ernest Ashell of Shielda High School will speak. Matilda Lebline will report on public health and W. H. Hughes will attend as county seat sale chairman. A public business session is planned.
Mrs Tillie Niewedde Sterling aged forty wife of Clifford Sterling died at her Brownstown home Friday night after a nine day illness She was born March 5 1896 near Wegan and lived in Brownstown since 1921 Survived by husband three sons her parents Henry and Sofia Niewedde three brothers two half brothers a step sister and a step brother Funeral services will be held at the Brownstown Baptist Church at 10 oclock Monday morning with burial in Brownstown Cemetery.
Hillsboro mayor John 8. Childs fired on a hawk overhead and dropped a partridge in its talons. The incident occurred on a Sunday noted as December 8, the last day of Platter's Christmas special offering a free enlargement. Appointments for photography were urged.
The Commerce Department named Walter IL Sherrill of Bedford as supervisor for the Ninth Delaware Congressional District for the census to be taken next month.
Knights of Columbus and Holy Name Society of St. Ambrose Parish hold a memorial service for departed members on Sunday at 8:00 AM. Rev. Paul Deery of Bloomington will preach, preside at Holy Communion, and is national chaplain of the Newman Clubs and Associated Newman Clubs of the Colleges. Also marks Feast of the Immaculate Conception honoring Mary.
City schoolchildren gather at Seymour Public Library at 2 30 this afternoon for the regular weekly story hour. Miss Marjorie Miller will read How the Monkey Came to the Zoo and The Wishing Man, a Christmas tale. Sixty two children attended last Saturday with large attendances noted each week.
Reported denial follows claims that Ellis Parker named a suspect. Governor Hoffman says Parker did not reveal an arrest and no official evidence supports an arrest. Parker leads a private probe into the Hauptmann case while Clemency votes loom over the death penalty.

The Ethiopian government announced that Desire, the field headquarters of Emperor Haile Selassie, was heavily bombed again. Nine Italian planes dropped over 1,000 bombs and machine gun fire targeted the capital area during a seventeen minute attack, with hospital tents and Red Cross facilities reported damaged. The assault occurred after an earlier strike, and authorities said the Emperor directed military efforts from a base in Desire.
