Bush re indicted in Bartholomew County for Sept. 7 1970 shooting

Steven Dale Bush, 20, is re indicted on two felony counts by Bartholomew County grand jury for a shooting that fatally wounded David Cowan, a service station attendant, on September 7 1970. Warrants prepared for his arrest, currently believed to be in California.

Indiana County Officials Meet At State Conference

Indiana county officials will gather in Indianapolis for the 14th annual Association of Indiana Counties conference December 11 to 13 at the Hilton Hotel. The three day event features the theme Challenges In The 1970s with a banquet on December 12 and a film Man In The Middle narrated by Chet Huntley. Jackson County attendees include Commissioners Earl A. Goecker Clarence Pottschmidt Herschel L. Rotert and others with executive board and general session speakers scheduled. Ralph Tabor National Association of Counties will speak on County News.

Cold Warning As Storm Disrupts Jackson County Telephone Service

A late Tuesday night thunderstorm packed high winds and heavy rain that damaged aerial telephone lines across Jackson County. Repairs began at 5 a.m. with crews targeting Seymour Browns town Clearspring and Medora areas. A cold wave followed with sleet freezing rain and snow. Roads were slick and temperatures were projected to dip to five to 15 degrees by Thursday morning.

BCHS Choral Concert Set for December 12

Brownstown Central High School choral department will present its annual Christmas concert at 7 30 p m Tuesday December 12 in the high school gymnasium. About 230 students from the Eighth Grade Choir Swing Choir and both high school choirs will perform. Public invited no admission charged.

Plans For Crop Banquet Programs Are Finalized

Arrangements are finalized for the 1972 Jackson County crop banquets. The 10 acre corn achievement banquet is set for January 9, 1973 at 6:30 p m in the School cafeteria with Jack Crowner of WAVE as speaker. The 11 acre soybean banquet follows January 11 at The Pines restaurant with Claude K Butt of Indiana Seed Certification as speaker. Sponsors include the Brownstown Chamber of Commerce and Agrico Chemical Corporation.

A reception follows the Winter Concert in the SHS fieldhouse foyer after the 8 p m show. Stephen E McGrew announces, Kermit E Mann hosts as SHS features Symphonic and Concert bands with Expo 70 and other selections, then the Symphonic Band performs and closes with Silent Night.

A Christmas parade at 2 p m on Saturday December 16 in Medora is sponsored by the Carr Township Conservation Club and Civics Club. Open class with $25 first prize and $15 second prize. $2,500 Short of 1972 United Fund Goal in Jackson County

The Jackson County United Fund reports only $2,500 remains to reach the $130,000 1972 goal as workers redouble efforts. Officials urge pledges and contributions from industry, business, and individuals to close the gap by next Wednesday when final figures will be announced.
