Seymour Christmas Parade Draws Large Crowd and Awards
Santa arrived as Seymour held a 45 minute downtown parade with 25 units 20 floats built by 175 youth from local schools churches and civic groups. Redeemer Lutheran Church youth group won religious category top honors followed by Zion Lutheran Church and Calvary Baptist Church in second place. Seymour High School student council won the general category trophy with Pepsi Cola sponsor.

A Seymour woman escaped injury when her car stalled on a Baltimore and Ohio crossing Sunday at 11 32 am. The vehicle was demolished by a westbound freight train. engineer Edward W. Ford reported damages to the car and train. A second two car crash on Poplar Street near St Louis Avenue injured one occupant. Donna Tolliver and Ronnie Belcher were involved.

The Brownstown Christmas parade ended at 3 pm after an hour of festivities featuring 41 units. The Peoples Bank of Brownstown won first prize for a Jack-in-the-Box float, receiving $50 for the Brownstown Christmas Cheer Fund. Second went to First Pentecostal Church with $25, and Third to Brownstown Church of the Nazarene for a Nativity scene worth $15. Jennings County Marching Panthers won first in the band contest with $50. Crothersville High School Marching Tigers were second with $25. Santa arrived aboard the Brownstown Volunteer Fire Department truck to close the event.
