Brownstown Chamber of Commerce representatives urged county commissioners to keep Ind. 135 on its current route from Indianapolis to Mauckport, arguing straightening and improvements near the present location are cheaper than a new road. Blood Unit Visit Set At Brownstown
Louisville Region's Red Cross bloodmobile will visit Jackson County on Thursday December 8. The unit will be stationed at the dining hall of the Brownstown Methodist Church from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The quota is 135 pints. Donations may be scheduled through affiliated organizations or by calling 89W2 or 89W at Brownstown. Physicians are Dr William Sharbrough Dr G R Gillespie and Dr William F Blaisdell. Staff nurses and many volunteers from Brownstown and Seymour will assist.

NYC Railroad Derailment Damages Track Affected in Indiana
New York Central officials estimate 30,000 dollars in damage after a 15 car derailment in St. Paul Indiana. A broken axle on a coal car caused the incident which ripped up 600 feet of main track and 300 feet of side track. No leaks were found in a tilted tanker carrying chlorine.

The 48th annual Christmas Basket Fund drive in Seymour started strongly with $115 raised on opening day. Donations included $50 from Lester Beverages in memory of James H. Lester, $25 from American Legion Post 89, a $10 gift, and six $5 contributions. The fund supports needy Seymour families with food and toys, organized by Seymour American Legion Post 89 and the Seymour Daily Tribune, with gifts accepted at Seymour National Bank or the Daily Tribune.
