Christmas Parade Opens Yale Season On Festive Note
Thousands crowded Seymour streets for a two mile Christmas Fairy land Parade sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce retail committee. Forty balloon floats up to 125 feet long and 14 feet high depicted fairy tale characters as high school bands from Medora Crothersville Columbus and Seymour led the procession. Santa Claus from Santa Claus Indiana closed the event greeting children from his sleigh. The production cost 4200 with a Blooming ton film crew recording highlights. About 150 Boy Scouts in clown costumes guided floats and the Christmas Queen float built by the Seymour Jaycees drew big crowds at West Second and North Chestnut. Police kept traffic clear as more than 7000 watched the finale.
