City Plans New Radio Patrol Car For Seymour Police
Mayor Donald L. Herwig announced plans to expand Seymour police service with a second radio equipped patrol car and additional staff. Six Children Die In Pittsburgh Gas Blast
A natural gas explosion in the North Side of Pittsburgh collapsed a three story frame home killing six children and injuring others. Fire officials say an auto skidding into a retaining wall ruptured a gas main feeding the house. The Moulis family perished, with bodies recovered hours later by fire crews using crane-mounted wreckers. Four High School Pupils Burned To Death in Somerset Crash
Four Somerset high school pupils died when their car skidded off a bridge near Somerset Pennsylvania and plunged 60 feet onto railroad tracks bursting into flames. Police said all victims were local residents about 16 years old returning from a dance.

Four Survivors Rescued After Cubana DC4 Crash
The Cuban airliner Star of the East carrying 42 aboard crashed into the sea about three miles off Bermuda shortly after takeoff from Kindley Field. Man Injured in Truck Mishap Returns Home
Charles Lucas of 717 East Brown Street returned Friday night from Schneck Memorial Hospital after injuries from a crash on U S Road 31 near Speed Thursday. Lucas, who had a leg injury and severe bruises, swerved to avoid a crowded vehicle, overturned his truck and was thrown out. He initially received treatment at Clark County Hospital in Jeffersonville before transfer.
