Four more passenger trains through Seymour will be discontinued starting Monday under a nationwide coal conserving order. Nos. 319 and 320 on the Pennsylvania Lines and Nos. 29 and 30 on the B&O will be annulled, reducing through trains to eight in total. Baltimore & Ohio freight schedules will be cut to two each way, with others moved by drags. Mail deliveries will slow as new parcel post limits take effect.

Two Injured when Tractor Hit By Car on U S Route 31
Two people were injured and a third escaped when a tractor pulling a corn trailer was struck by a 1941 coupe driven south on U S Route 31 near the Jackson Bartholomew county line. George Baldwin suffered minor bruises after being thrown from the tractor. Dorothy Jenks, 23, Jeffersonville, had cuts and abrasions and was treated in Seymour. Lawrence E Murphy, presumably of Jeffersonville, was cited for reckless driving. he and Baldwin were involved as the tractor and trailer sustained heavy damage.

Frank P. Scott formerly of Scottsburg died Wednesday at Whittier California. He was Floyd W. McClure’s uncle and had lived in California for two years. Funeral services are set for Whittier and burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery likely Tuesday or Wednesday. He leaves a widow and two daughters in Louisville and Milwaukee.

Automobile Damaged by Fire Downtown
An auto driven by Gilbert Willman and owned by his brother on South Walnut Street was badly burned by fire late Thursday night in the 200 block of West Second Street. Seymour firefighters extinguished the blaze after it was discovered inside the car.

Four teenagers, two boys and two girls, were held in Shelbyville after State Police Officer Herbert Smith was fatally shot following a traffic stop on State Road 9. William Francis Price, 17, admitted the shooting. three others, Pvt. William Johnson 17, Mary Ruth Ward 14, and Vera Hornback 15, were captured nearby. no charges were filed Thursday.
