Fred Hodapp longtime supervisor of fuel and locomotive operations for the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad and former Sey mour resident was guest of honor at a farewell dinner Tuesday held by the Washington and Seymour B and C division locomotive engineers at the Blue Bird Hotel in Washington. A large number of railroad officials attended and Hodapp and his wife received gifts. Youth Seriously Hurt in Mishap Near Seymour
Clarence Pollard Jr. a seven teen resident of Seymour was hit by a westbound car on U S Route 50 one and one half miles west of Seymour. Cecil Owens forty three of Brownstown said he did not see the youth until six feet away due to glare from an approaching vehicle. The boy is the son of Mrs. Herbert Hunsucker of Pershing Street police said.

Swain Attends Aviation Meet in Indianapolis

Dr B S Shinness aged 70, a Seymour dentist for 46 years, died at his home 217 Calvin Boulevard after two years of failing health. Born August 18, 1874 in Rushville, he practiced in Scottsburg before moving to Seymour in 1898. He married Sarah Rhyse in 1910. survived by wife and fraternal affiliations including Red Men, Masons in four bodies, and leadership roles in local lodges.

Mrs. Caroline Payne a forty seven year old former Bloomington newspaper executive and ex Seymour resident is to be released Thursday from the Indiana Women’s Prison after serving at least two years of an indeterminate sentence for voluntary manslaughter. She was convicted in the Monroe circuit court on December 7 1942 for the fatal July 5 1941 shooting of Charles O Mattingly an attorney examiner for the Indiana Public Service Commission and her former fiancé.
