Christmas Club checks totaling about 25000 will be mailed late today by the Jackson Loan & Trust Company and the Seymour National Bank to several hundred people. The distribution comes as funds are needed for holiday buying and reflects strong club activity this year with new clubs opening for 1933.
A two mile house dance hall beside Columbus burned early Monday with its sedan and adjoining filling station, totaling over 3000 dollars in losses. Origin of the fire unknown and no insurance was carried. The hall and store were run by Joe Um who lived across the road. He had been detained the night before but claims no fire there when he drove his new car into the building later that night.
Word from Madison Indiana confirms W A Dorsett resigned as scout executive of the Hoosier Hills Area Council effective December 1 Seymour is part of the council and no successor or future plans were announced.
Two minors riding with four companions were exposed to carbon monoxide early today. Elly Ritche, 18, of Knifley, Ky., was unconscious and revived at Sehneck Memorial Hospital. His brother Mont Ritche, 16, also fell ill but required no treatment.
Frank J. Darling of Lawrenceburg died at 6 30 PM Monday after a year long illness. A Baltimore and Ohio railroad man for years he retired five years ago and was a life long member of the First Methodist Church. He leaves a widow and eight children including John H Darling of this city and Walter T Darling of Cincinnati. Funeral services will be at 2 30 PM Thursday from the First Methodist Church with burial in Lawrenceburg Cemetery.
Albert N. Meyer aged sixty five died in Venice California after a stroke. Born in Cincinnati he moved to Seymour as a child then to Evansville twenty five years ago and to California in 1917 where he resided. He was a Trinity Methodist Church member and is survived by his sister Mrs Frank Teceke Meyer and a California stepmother Mrs Minnie Petterman. Funeral plans unavailable.
The Sel-Rite store relocated to 110 South Chestnut, moving from its previous location one block north. The new site on Chestnut is reported in local business notices for the neighborhood.
