Blackmail plot against Seymour physician bared at restaurant
Herbert Kleinmyer and Maud Nicholson confessed to police that Kleinmyer offered to drop charges against Dr Ephram B Chenoweth if he bought Kleinmyer's restaurant at 111 South Chestnut Street for 900 dollars. The scam involved a 17 year old waitress and followed an indictment for assault with intent to commit a felony. The doctor set a trap, leading to Kleinmyer’s arrest and later admissions in the attorney's office.

A discharge of a shot load perforated his left hand, shattering it and necessitating amputation. Acton, married, works at the Kieffer Paper mill in Brownstown.

Mrs. Frank Dailey wife of the county assessor sustained painful cuts in an automobile crash Saturday evening at the Tipton and O'Brien streets corner. Dailey was driving west on Tipton when another car from the opposite direction tried to turn into O'Brien street just ahead. Both cars were damaged and the other driver fled the scene before his name could be learned, Dailey reported to the police.

Dozen Land Owners Yet To Sign For Road To Columbus
About a dozen landowners have yet to sign an agreement to improve the surface road from Seymour to Columbus. Bert Setser, Bartholomew County highway superintendent, says most landowners will sign, with only one or two exceptions. John D. Williams of the state highway commission wants a quick decision and signatures gathered early this week. The commission plans to specify crushed stone needs for the state road south of Columbus and to connect the Seymour north stretch with the Bartholo.

He was rushed to Schneck Memorial Hospital for treatment as relatives and local men, including George Bobb and Columbus Finley, accompanied him. John Glixner 74 died Friday at his home southeast of Hayden. Funeral services were held Sunday at the residence with burial in Hayden cemetery under Odd Fellows auspices and with Daughters of Rebekah attendance. A large crowd honored the life of a longtime Jennings county farmer and Seymor merchant ally. Surviving are his two children Will and Lulu Ewan, five grandchildren and a great grandchild, plus a brother and sister. Mrs Glixner is critically ill.
