Bids Studied For Free man Field Garage Addition

Four bids were opened for an addition to the city garage at Free man Field. The bids ranged from 27 664 75 to 39 000 with four bidders from Seymour and one from Muncie. Alternates covered steel, extra doors, and heating options with adjustments reported. The board took all bids under advisement and referred them to the city attorney and architect for approval.

Probation Revoked for Seymour Youth in Robbery Incident

A Seymour youth, Michael G. Adams, 16, had his probation revoked by Judge Jonathan J. Robertson in Jackson County juvenile court. He was remanded to Indiana Boys School at Plainfield until age 21 or discharge by trustees. Adams had been on two years probation after a theft conviction and was tied to a May burglary of Seymour Country Club. He was arrested after a 73-year-old woman was assaulted while resisting a pocketbook theft, with officers identifying him from a shoe found at the scene and the matched shoe in his apartment.

Nixon Observer At Peace Talks Seen

W Averell Harriman after meeting Nixon said a personal observer will likely go to Paris for the talks and top American negotiators will be replaced after inauguration. He noted a small expanded team may be needed to liaise with Saigon and that North Vietnam appears to have reduced forces in the South. Campaign expense filings for Brownstown county race

Three statements of election campaign expenses were filed at the county clerk’s office in Brownstown. Keith Burkholder shows 393.55 in expenses for county coroner. Harry Schepman lists 480.49 in expenses for commissioner first district. Russell Goen reports 323.80 in expenses for re election as county auditor. All candidates in the November 5 general election must file itemized expenses before December 20.

November Parking Receipts Show Increases and Declines

The city clerk-treasurer reports November parking meter receipts rise over the previous year but fall from October totals. Four weekly collections totaled 1876.90, up 118.55 from November last year and down 79.65 from October. The second week was the month’s low at 464.85 and the third week the high at 474.50. Arrest tickets totaled 294, down 92 from November last year, with October receipts at 240.

Marine Pfc. George L. Straszewski of Gary Indiana has been identified as Indiana’s 814th Vietnam combat victim. The Defense Department announced his death on Wednesday. He was the son of Mr and Mrs Zygmunt L Straszewski of Gary.
