Water Cut Off After Hydrant Crash at Elm and Fifth
Seymour residents in the northwest part of the city were without water for about two hours late Wednesday afternoon following an accident that snapped a fire hydrant at Fifth and Elm. Police said the hydrant was struck by a vehicle driven by David Thompson. The incident was reported at about 5:30 p.m.

License plates go on sale for 1941 in Seymour rush
License plates for 1941 went on sale today at the Seymour license bureau in the Vehstage building. Forrest Kysar, bureau manager, added assistants to handle motorists eager to obtain plates early. First 1941 passenger plate went to Thomas Larabee, 292 101, while John Marquette bought the first 1941 truck plate 54 401 and weight tax 52 801. George A. Clark bought the first 1941 driver’s license 297 001. others secured chauffeur’s licenses and public passenger credentials. Officials warned no extension will be granted and extra branches in Indianapolis will handle crowds.
