Driver Released After U S Route 31 Collision Near Rockford
James Gowker of Elkhart was held briefly in city jail after a Monday morning crash on U S Route 31 north of Rockford. His truck was struck by a Morgan Packing Company vehicle at Austin while Gowker’s vehicle was parked. Gowker was released and continued to Indianapolis. Frank Lempus, also of Elkhart, was injured. Two hitchhikers from Calhoun Georgia were bruised and released with orders to return home.
