Arvin Industries approves a broad pension program for all employees with early retirement at 60 normal retirement at 65 and automatic retirement at 68. The plan covers about 5 000 workers and 775 Seymour plant staff and offers lifetime monthly benefits for those with at least ten years of service. It requires stockholder and three government approvals before becoming effective November 1 1952.

Cars Collide On South Chestnut Street
Two cars were involved in a minor collision late Wednesday afternoon just north of Bruce street on South Chestnut street. Lyman Kasting, 26, driving north on Chestnut, struck the rear of a car driven by John Toenjes, 61, who was backing from a parking position on the east side of Chestnut. Neither driver was injured. Kasting’s front and left front were damaged, estimated at $100, while Toenjes’s left rear was about $15.

Purdue economist urges farmers to keep full records for tax savings

Two Men Sentenced to Farm in City Court
Two men pleaded guilty to public intoxication in city court. Mayor Donald L. Heiwig sentenced both to six months on the state penal farm with $100 fines and $10 costs. Lawrence Lozier, 40, of Lawrenceburg R2, was arrested on Ewing Street after a prior sentence. Sherman Helton, 36, of Seymour, making his ninth appearance, was nabbed on South Pine Street.

Local Man with Crack Engineer Unit in Korea
Cpl. Donald F. Scott of Seymour is serving with the 1092d Engineer Combat Battalion in Korea. The unit, now with men from across the U S, kept the only floating bridge across the Imjin River during a freezing winter.
