The Freetown sewage works project advanced with a $211000 FHA loan and a $1040000 treatment plant contract awarded to Mitchell and Stark Construction of Medora. Construction could start January 1 and finish within the year, serving 194 current users with a 500 user capacity. Residents will repay the loan. rates were set at 10.87 per month for metered and 15.11 for non metered customers.

A two car crash on U S 50 near the Dairy Queen damaged one vehicle and injured two women, one thought eight months pregnant. Mrs Helen R Surenkamp 57 of Seymour drove a 1958 auto that jumped the curb and struck a parked 1975 auto occupied by Mrs Debra J Anthony believed eight months pregnant. Both women were taken to Schneck Memorial Hospital.
