Six injured in Sunday U.S. 31 crash near Redington
A 4:15 p.m. one vehicle wreck on U.S. 31 north of Redington sent six people to Schneck Memorial Hospital. Driver Charles O. Anderson 25 of Columbus suffered head and chin lacerations. Five passengers—George Anderson 21 Kathy Sinclair 19 Bill Ward 22 Mary Ward 25 Steve Hatchett 22—had varying injuries. Bill Ward later arrested for public intoxication.

Seymour Christmas Parade Draws Record Crowd in 1973
Warm night and mild temperatures drew one of Seymour’s largest crowds for the Jaycee Christmas parade. Calvary Baptist Church float won the Presidents Award and top religious prize, with Redeemer Lutheran and First United Methodist following in the religious category. The Seymour Boys Club took general honors. other notable entries included 4-H Junior Leaders, Girl Scout Troop 220, and numerous school and community floats sponsored by local businesses. The procession toured from Bruce and Chestnut to Broadway and Fourth, led by the National Guard color guard and crowned by Homecoming Queen Beth Bowman and Jane Miller.

Ross Med-Aid Services and Ross Ambulance Service announce a 30 day subsidy from Columbus funeral directors to continue operation in Bartholomew County starting Dec 1. Bruce R. Ross says Colum bus will pay 2000 while county commissioners decide future plans. He notes four ambulances were not economically feasible without a 35000 subsidy.

Children lined Brownstown streets for the 13th annual Christmas parade ending with Santa Claus and the official start of the season. Twenty two entries, 40 minute procession, judges from local groups awarded cash prizes including 50 dollars for the Nazarene Church float and a 50 dollar prize to Crothersville High School Marching Band.

IU Musicians Open Three Part Series at Brownstown Church
Indiana University artists Javier Calderon Sally Jorgensen and Eleanore Schettler performed a classical guitar harp and vocal program at Brownstown Presbyterian Church drawing about 100 attendees. The trio presented Spanish influenced guitar works Palestinian songs and Christmas carols ending with DeFalla duets. A reception followed and the next program on January 20 features the Hanover College Players presenting East of the Sun West of the Moon in the new Brownstown Elementary School auditorium.
