Fire destroys home of Brownstown family of seven
A two story wood frame house three miles southwest of Brownstown burned to the ground around 8 p m Friday leaving Mr and Mrs Walter Kretzer and five children homeless. The fire started while Kretzer thawed a kitchen drain with a blow torch. The Nierman owned home was insured. a nearby summer kitchen and hen house were saved.

Two Injured In Night Road Crashes Across Three Incidents
Troopers from the Seymour state police post investigated three crashes overnight. An Indianapolis woman suffered multiple fractures in a two car collision on I 65 south of U.S. 90. A Louisville man received forehead contusions and leg bruises in a second crash on I 65 near U.S. 50. A third crash on U.S. 31 near the bridges south of U.S. 50 involved Floyd Barger who reported being crowded into a bridge. damages were minor.

Liberty man killed by corn feed unloader on farm
John H. Link, 55, of Liberty Indiana died Friday on his farm after being dragged into an automatic corn feed unloader. Authorities said his arm tangled in the machinery as he lost balance. His son Fred drove the tractor that towed the rig.
