Larry Mellencamp of Crothersville Indiana was named a national 4-H swine program winner and received a $500 college scholarship from Moorman Manufacturing at the 43rd National 4-H Club Congress in Chicago. He is the second Jackson County winner this year joining Larry Kiewitt of the tractor program.

Two Car Crash Fatal To Austin Man
An Austin motorist, Larry R. Elam aged 23, was killed when his eastbound car turned in front of a westbound vehicle driven by Donald W. Dugan 29, of Warsaw Indiana on Ind 256 seven miles east of Austin. Dugan was treated and released. Funeral services set for 2 p m at Buchanan Funeral Home with burial in Austin Cemetery. He was survived by his mother wife daughter two brothers and a sister.

Seymour police investigated a burglary at Hurt's Grocery 515 East Seventh St. entry was gained by breaking a padlock on the double doors. Crated items included 10 cartons of cigarettes ham toothpaste lotion hair spray and shampoo. A safe was pried but remained unopened. The theft occurred between 6 p.m. Wednesday and 6 40 a.m. today. Officer Wal Fred Kleimola led the inquiry.
