A total of 102 students from Shields Junior High and Shields High School earned positions on the honor rolls for the second six weeks of the 1941-42 term. Seventy-five re enrolled at Shields High. sophomores lead the high honor list with eight names, freshmen follow with six. The high honor list includes seniors, juniors, sophomores, and freshmen with named students.

A new instrument, a Glockenspiel or lyre bell, is donated to the Shields High School Band by the Seymour Daily Tribune. It will be displayed in The Tribune window today and tomorrow and may debut at the Seymour North Vernon basketball game Friday night.

Venison Dinner Draws About Eighty Masons here
About eighty Masons from Jackson Lodge No 146 F A M and nearby lodges attended a special meeting at the Masonic Temple West Second Street Tuesday night. The gathering opened at 4 30 pm with Worshipful Master K L Fosbrink presiding and three candidates received the first section of the Master Mason degree. A venison supper followed at 6 pm served by Seymour Chapter Order of Eastern Star. Venison was provided by Carl A Conrad Junior Deacon who recently killed a 150 pound buck in northern Michigan.

Edward W Brinkman dies at home in town
Edward W. Brinkman age 63 a well known local resident died at his home 411 West Fourth street at 1150 this morning after a year long illness. Funeral services will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Rev RE Sheufert in charge and burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. He had worked as a gasoline agent for Sinclair Refining Company for twenty years. Mortuary arrangements follow Thursday night.

A large pile of aluminum gathered across southeastern Indiana for the aluminum for defense drive has vanished from the Seymour state police post terrace. The material was loaded into two box cars and shipped to foundries under orders of the Indiana Defense Council as efforts continue to move all concentrated aluminum to smelters within days.
