A heavy snowfall of four inches hit Seymour and surrounding areas, causing hazardous driving and several accidents. Weather observer Ruth Everhart recorded the event as the county's second big snow in three days, with forecasts predicting more unsettled weather through the week. Ellen Jane O'Donnell, 24, was injured in an auto strike at Sixth and Ewing streets about 7:30 this morning.

AMC survey examines Freeman Field for industrial facilities

Harold Fearon and John B Patrick of Seymour are elected to the IU chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma national business honor society. In December the Jackson County Board of Commissioners ordered a legal notice for sale of bonds totaling 200000 to fund a new jail in Brownstown and to advertise bids for construction and equipment per approved plans. A bid date for the jail is not yet set. The board also directed notices for highway supplies and three new dump trucks. Coal bids for next year were opened with bids from Charles Cummings 11.23, Edgar Rorig 12.25, Brownstown Feed Exchange 11.58. contract awarded to the lowest bidder.
