Two Deer Found Shot in County
Jackson county conservation officer Carroll I Stewart reports two deer shot to death. A 180 pound doe found in a pine grove near the state forest had been dead a week to ten days from rifle fire. A 160 pound doe, shot with a shotgun and dead about three weeks, was found on Ervin Wischmeier’s Seymour farm. The officer notes a prior state law allows farmers to shoot deer causing damage if using No 5 shot or smaller, with reporting within 48 hours.
