Two Local Men Suffer Injuries in Truck Crash
William Young, 41, of the Argo Hotel, remained in serious condition at Dunn Memorial Hospital Bedford after a noon Friday crash on U.S. Route 50 two miles east of the Jackson-Lawrence line. His truck from Western Trucking Co. flipped after skidding on ice, landing in a roadside ditch. Passenger Herschel Bay of Seymour suffered minor cuts and bruises. Officer Lawrence Conway said the cab tore loose and folded backward in a slight uphill straight stretch.

Shields High School Future Farmers of America apple judging team placed fourth in a state contest with over 180 points. Members Roy Pollard Robert Pollard Howard Hall and Arthur Ahlbrand are part of the local chapter. The chapter runs a Rust Buster Club to destroy barberry plants and reduce black stem rust.
