John McFadden of North Vernon goes on trial in Decatur circuit court at Greensburg charged with first degree murder in the death of his stepfather Charles Bruce. Indicted Oct 15 by a Jennings county grand jury the case was moved for venue due to local sentiment. The murder allegedly occurred July 17 after a quarrel over chickens. Bruce died three days later from injuries.
