Bloodmobile Set To Visit Brownstown On Thursday

Red Cross officials urge Jackson residents to donate at the Louisville based bloodmobile December 4 from 11 a m to 4 p m at the American Legion Home Brownstown. Doctors in charge are G R Gillespie John Linson and W D Scharbrough with a large team of registered nurses and aides assisting.

Organ Recital at Brownstown Church Brings Local Talent

A three part organ recital Sunday at 4 p m in Brownstown Presbyterian Church featured Gregory Brown, Mrs Donald Clodfelter, and Willard N Everhart III. Brown opened with works by Frank Bach Boellmann, Clodfelter sang Handel Mendelssohn and Thompson pieces, and Everhart closed with Bach Chamibalt Marcello and Pachelbel. Coffee and cookies followed the program.

Reassessment Hearing Set in Browns Town Courthouse

A final public hearing on modification of real estate assessments will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. in the auditor's office at the Browns Town courthouse. The State Board of Tax Commissioners will conduct the hearing, part of the normal reassessment process, with a few complaints filed for this session.

Man Found Shot Near Columbus

Detectives from Seymour state police post investigate the death of an unidentified white man, 30 to 40, found in a ditch along Interstate 65 one mile north of Ind. 46. A 20 gauge shell was found nearby, imprint evidence suggests the body was dumped from a moving car. Det. Sgt. R Wayne Hall and Tech Sgt. Maurice L Wright lead the inquiry.

U S Troop Levels in Viet Nam Fall Under 480000

U S Command reports 479 500 American troops in Vietnam as of last Thursday down 4 900 from the prior week and 4 500 below the Dec 15 cap. The decline continues a five month trend since withdrawals began last summer. Viet Cong attacks were light but one sapper group penetrated a U S unit near Cam Ranh Bay prompting air and helicopter response.

The Seymour Jaycees sponsor a sixth annual outdoor Christmas lighting contest with religious and general categories. Two winners receive a 25 dollar Savings Bond and a special trophy. Santa greeted area children during a Saturday opening line outside the Santa House. Kids sat on Santa's knee to share wishes and received small gifts depending on age. Younger children got a record while older ones received Apollo 11 crew pictures.

School officials announce tickets for Seymour Senior High School basketball season and single sessions will go on sale at the high school office during school hours. A large Seymour audience enjoyed the two act production of Arsenic and Old Lace by the Seymour Senior High School dramatic club Troupe 3053 of the National Thespian Society. Jeanine Jones and Barbara Bingman starred as Abby and Martha Brewster with strong supporting turns from Rodney Friend as Teddy and Doug Lange as Mortimer.
