November temperatures in Seymour and Jackson County averaged 62.7 degrees, the warmest in 31 years, driven by three consecutive days above 60 and records dating back to 1688. Rain fell on five days totaling 1.29 inches, with no snow recorded, marking an unusually dry and mild month.
The city clerk reports November meter receipts totaled 1 147.25, down from October 1 487.72 and 1 371.22 for November 1961. Four weekly collections averaged 286.81, versus 297.55 in October. Arrest tickets rose slightly from October but fell from 1961, with 18 tickets in November. Meter funds pay two patrolmen and meter upkeep, while fines go to the general fund.
Some 124 high school students from Seymour, Crothersville, Brownstown and nearby communities take College Entrance Examination Board tests at Seymour Senior High School today. SSHS dean of boys Roy Whiteman and dean of girls Gladys Gilpen announce the schedule with most finishing after a three hour SAT.
The Immanuel Lutheran Church in Seymour advances toward dedication in January as a 14 by 10 foot exterior panel of steel monel and copper is erected. Clark Fitzgerald of Castine designed the panel using Isaiah symbols centered on the Christ Child with wheat and grapes for Holy Communion and messages of justice and salvation.
An eight point deer weighing about 260 pounds ran into the side of a half ton truck on U S 50 near the U S 31 junction, then collided with an oncoming car. The injured deer was destroyed and given to state conservation officers. The 1960 model truck, driven by John T. Bowers, suffered front fender and door damage.
Jackson County Farm Bureau Cooperative Associations Inc will hold its 33rd annual stockholders meeting Saturday December 8 in Seymour High School auditorium. Five directors will be elected for three year terms and stockholders will consider increasing capital stock authorization. Incumbents Mock Jamison Surenkamp Bolton and Otte seek new terms.
Two persons were injured in a two car crash at Broadway and Fourth Street at 9 52 p m Friday. Raymond A Marsh 19 of Seymour received back and leg pain and was hospitalized in fair condition after X rays. Maggie Lustig 47 of East Third Street suffered a bruised knee and arm injury. Drivers were Raymond D Marsh 46 and Preston Hazelette of Seymour. The elder Marsh was northbound and Hazelette westbound when brakes failed at the intersection per Captain Jackie R Nowling. Lustig was a passenger in the Hazelette car and the younger Marsh in the other vehicle. Damages totaled 350 to the Marsh car and 225 to the Hazelette wagon.
Seymour city police investigate a burglary at the police department firing range at Freeman Field. Captain Jackie R Nowling says a window was smashed and targets and a staple gun were stolen. The break in occurred Friday, reported at 3 43 p m. Value estimated at 25 dollars.

Nine people appeared before Judge James L. Laupus in Seymour city court. Three received jail sentences while six others were fined for guilty pleas on charges including public intoxication disorderly conduct and being minors in possession of alcohol.
The Cunningham School of Horology of Corydon Indiana was bought by R W Ellis Jewelry at 404 East Second Street. The package includes all training equipment and the plan is to move the school to Seymour with potential reopening in Indianapolis if enough students enroll. If not, the equipment will be sold.
Traffic officials report four fatalities in November across Jackson Bartholomew Jennings Johnson Lawrence Brown Morgan and Monroe counties, down from five in November 1961. Despite the monthly drop the year so far shows higher deaths than 1961, with December expected to remain dangerous due to winter driving and heavy holiday traffic.

An Eastern Air Lines DC7B from Charlotte crashed while landing through fog at Idlewild Airport. Twenty five people perished and 26 survived as the plane veered, hit marshland, and burst into flames. Survivors recalled a last-minute attempt to land.
INDIANAPOLIS AP A 55 year old factory superintendent Delbert J Moon told police he gave his wife arsenic to quiet her but did not intend to kill her. He admitted providing the poison and said he was glad it was over. His wife Mary 50 is paralyzed from the neck down. Moon was arrested on an indictment charging attempted murder and held on 15000 bond.
The Soviet Union has started packing nuclear capable jet bombers in Cuba and sending them to ports for shipment back to Russia. The first shipload is expected to depart soon under U.S. naval observation, completing the second phase of Khrushchev's Cuban withdrawal after the missiles were removed earlier.
