Murder of Gerald W. Shibe Under Intensive State Search
Authorities from the Seymour state police post and Jackson County agencies conducted an extensive probe into the November murder of 53 year old Gerald W. Shibe. His body with two gunshot wounds was found three miles west of Seymour after he was last seen leaving a restaurant on November 14. Police sought clues including possible robbery motive and the missing 1957 mist green Cadillac. The autopsy identified two fatal bullets, one entering near the eye and another at the back of the head. The gunshots and missing vehicle prompted a wide search and ongoing inquiries.

Mrs. Carl Roberts, 36, of Brownstown Rl, admitted to Schneck Memorial Hospital Thursday for spine X rays after helping fight a Wednesday night residence fire in her father in law’s home. She was released after X rays. Outpatient Bradford Stanfield, 3, son of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Stanfield, had a grain of popcorn removed from his nose. Jimmy Mack Robison, 2, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Robison of Wallonia, admitted with a cut above the right eye requiring five stitches from a fall at home.

A 48 year old Johnson County man pleaded guilty in Seymour City Court to public intoxication. Maurice N Goens was fined $15 and 17 costs after arraignment. Officers Calvin W Theele and George E Parker arrested him at 4 pm Thursday in the municipal parking lot by Jeffersonville Avenue.
