In the Seymour post area seven fatalities occurred in November 1954, up from three in November 1953, as National Safe Driving Day focused efforts to curb crashes ahead of the 1,000th Indiana traffic death of 1954. Linda Bunch, six, died in a one car crash near North Vernon with a crushed skull after being thrown from the vehicle. Funeral services were held this morning.

Police Probe Theft From Truck In Seymour
Seymour police investigate a theft from a local potato chip truck Monday night. Raymond Lucas reports he parked near the American Legion club on West Second Street at 9 30 and found a cigar box containing a $10 roll of quarters and two rolls of pennies missing.

Driver Charged After Accident In Seymour
A 34-year-old Seymour man, Thomas J. Foster, was charged with failure to yield after a two vehicle crash at Ewing and East Fourth streets. Foster, of 417 Calvin Boulevard, allegedly pulled through after stopping as Arnold D. Wilson of 509 West Third Street approached from the south. Damage was estimated at $250 to Wilson’s car and $150 to Foster’s. Foster will appear in justice court.

A 1951 large limousine owned by Boyd Bennett of Louisville was destroyed by fire on Alternate U S 31 near a curve in Peter's Switch north of Seymour. Bennett said a tire blew as he returned from Indianapolis, starting the blaze around 2 a.m. Loss estimated at $3,000.

John Waldkoetter 85 a lifelong Jackson County resident died today at his home 208 East Tipton Street after a year of poor health. He served as Farm Mutual Insurance Company treasurer for 25 years and was a Farm Bureau director. Search for downed Northeast Airliner in New Hampshire

He received 60 days at the state penal farm under a youthful offender provision.
