Hester Ann Jarvis and Gusetta Carmer, charged in Jackson County with aiding a jailbreak, were questioned after returning from Cincinnati. Carmer admitted buying two saw blades in Columbus and smuggling them into Brownstown jail for escapees Hayden Dowers and Gearries. Authorities have not found the two escapees.

Three Truckers Arrested At Weight Check Near Seymour
Three arrests occurred during a truck weight check at the permanent pit scales east of Seymour from morning until Friday night. No Sale of Single Christmas Trees At County Forest
Seymour and Jackson county residents may not buy individual Christmas trees from the Jackson county state forest near Browns town this year. Curtis Reynolds, state forest superintendent, said there will be no retail sale of Christmas trees during the 1951 season. A limited number are sold in wholesale lots with about 1,600 trees already sold, mainly to Indianapolis. some remain for Jackson county buyers. Reynolds asked individuals not to seek single trees to avoid refusals.

Boyd Fleetwood of Salt Creek township heard by Jackson Circuit Court jury in Brownstown on June 1951 charge of operating under the influence. After about six hours deliberation the jury found him guilty and Judge Gossman deferred sentencing to Monday. Fleetwood’s transfer from Seymour city court followed arrest June 9 1951. Jury members listed. case connected to Seymour post. Boyd Nicholson 26 Campbellsville RR pleaded guilty to driving under the influence with $50 fine and 12.55 costs. license suspension recommended for 90 days. He also faced a resisting arrest charge with bond set at 200. Myrtle Smith awaiting trial on a separate DUI charge.

Old Timers Night at Legion for World War I Vets
World War I veterans will gather at Seymour Post 89 American Legion on Monday at 8 pm. The event includes a “garbage detail” feeding the group, with World War II veterans also invited. The Legion was founded in 1919 and organizers urge all old-timers to attend.

Florida milliner Mrs Theresa Pruitt dies in Miami
Mrs Theresa Pruitt of Miami Florida died in Miami Thursday morning at more than 80 years old. She was the widow of Charles Pruitt and daughter of the late Mrs Christine Groff Meyers formerly of this city. Survivors include two daughters living in Florida. Funeral services were held in Miami with burial there.
