A new concrete walk at the Jackson County Courthouse in Brownstown opened to the public Tuesday after workers removed the old stone path. Foreman John Beickman led a PWA crew replacing it, moving access to the rear during construction while the front gate area dried.

John W. Brooks aged eighty five of Seymour rural route 2 died at 10 20 this morning at his home after a year and a half of illnesses. Born February 25 1852 in Washington Indiana he moved to Jackson county as a child and lived there the rest of his life. He leaves six children and three grandchildren with a sister in Mitchell. Funeral service will be held at 2 pm Friday at Voss Mortuary with Rev. R S Wilson officiating and burial at Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday afternoon.

County Man Fined After Church Disruption at Hilltop Pentacostal Church
Tess Stafford of Rateliff Grove near Browns town was arraigned in John-Russell Brownstown JP court on disturbing a meeting and public intoxication charges. He was fined $5 and costs for disturbing a meeting and $1 for public intoxication, with fines stayed and release granted. Stafford was arrested Saturday night at the Hilltop Pentecostal Church by Sheriff William Barkman and Deputy William Von Dielingen.
