Veteran Pilot Recalls Colorful Flying Career
Capt. Kenneth Delbert Wright of Atlanta retires from Delta Airlines after 30 years as a captain on 747s carrying 370 passengers and 20 crew. His final flight was July 15, with retirement official July 15, 1974. He plans to continue acrobatic flying and is building his own aeroplane. Wright began flying in 1934 at Seymour's small airport and served in the U S Air Corps during World War II. He once held world speed records Los Angeles to Atlanta and San Francisco to Atlanta in Stretch DC-8 61 under world rules.
