Storms End Heat Wave In Seymour With Rain
A weeklong heat wave in Seymour ended as thunderstorms moved through the county. Rain totals reached .90 inches in some areas while Seymour saw no rain. The city reported a severe electrical storm with flooding on Third and Lynn streets and damage to the Pali Cafe kitchen, closing it for repairs. Temperatures cooled from 101 to 88. Page 8 column 6.

Frances Viola Baughman 92 widow of Silas E. Baughman died Sunday night at a son’s home near Reddington after three weeks of illness. Funeral services at Tower Burkholder Funeral Home Wednesday at 2 PM, with burial in Reddington Cemetery. She was born June 17, 1856 in Kentucky and moved to Jackson County in 1864. Her husband died in 1932. She leaves a son, two daughters, two grandchildren, and one great grandchild.

Auto Stolen Here Is Recovered Sunday
A 1941 coach owned by Mrs H E Ashcraft was stolen Saturday from a parking space on Ewing Street near Second Street and found abandoned early Sunday near the east end of Maple Avenue south of West Second Street, according to city police.

Man Hurt When Car Overturns
Charles E Fox and Seymour R3 sustained multiple lacerations after his 1930 model coupe overturned east of Garden Avenue on South Park Drive. He led police to believe glare from an oncoming car caused him to brake, sending the car into a ditch. Dennis Kasperlain was struck by a 1938 sedan driven by Newton Hayes at Pine and Jackson streets while bicycling. Police seek a hit and run driver who struck a parked 1940 coach of James Fleetwood near St Louis Avenue.

She married Henry Murphy in 1889 who died in 1921. Her second marriage in 1939 was to John Richey who survives. Two Teens Sentenced for Farm Theft in Bedford
Joe Stannard aged 19 of Bedford and Ralph Hamilton 16 of Medora pleaded guilty in Lawrence Circuit Court Bedford to grand larceny.
