Seymour Trustees Approve 1953 Levy Increase
The Seymour public schools board approved a $1.99 tax levy for 1953, a 20 cent rise from 1.79, to cover about $34,000 higher budget costs. Superintendent James A. Campbell said the hike funds increases in special and tuition budgets, shop equipment, and teacher salaries due to higher training and experience. The levy goes to the Jackson County Tax Adjustment Board on September 8.

Child Slightly Hurt in Crash on County Road
A child was slightly injured in a two vehicle crash on a narrow county road north of Seymour. Donald E. Parcheck, 18, drove a 1950 sedan north while Meredith J. Durham, 33, drove a 1949 sedan south. Trees on the curve blinded drivers, causing about 300 dollars damage to Parcheck and 175 dollars to Duramobile. Susan Durham, age three, sustained a lip cut.

She was born April 27 1913 in Jackson County daughter of Elmer Briner and Mabel Briner now deceased. Surviving are her mother and sister Mrs Hazel Adrian of Indianapolis. Mrs Menna died Thursday morning in Chicago.

Grass Fire Near City Burns Three Acres Thursday
