Seymour city council adopted three ordinances for the 1951 budget totaling 210 176.68 and set a civil city levy of 1.195 per 100 providing funds for salaries and elections. The panel also approved a transfer of 1 700 between park and aviation funds in a special meeting with no audience at the hearing.
Jackson County Young Republican Club schedules an organizational meeting and officer elections for Wednesday night at 8 in Shields High School study hall. Chairman Richard H. Montgomery invites all ages 21 to 35 to attend to discuss upcoming elections.
Charles J. Reedy a Brownstown native who moved to Columbus 37 years ago died Sunday night at 118 Hege Street East Columbus after seven years of illness. Born August 9 1886 he was a carpenter turned grocer and operated a East Columbus store about 12 years. Survived by wife Ida Bell married March 30 1911 foster daughter Alta Grimes and several cousins. Funeral 1 30 PM Wednesday at Flanigan Reed Inlow Funeral Home Columbus with Rev Gilbert Curry. burial Fairview Cemetery Brownstown.
Central Christian Church's Men's Brotherhood schedules its annual fish fry for Wednesday at the Delbert Anderson cabin in Cranetown. The event begins at 7 PM with transport from the church at 6:30 PM, rain plan to move to the church. The Gospel Four quartet will sing and Rev. Howard Jenkins of Greentown will speak.

Parents Night is Friday September 1 at 7 30 pm to review policies, schedules and booklists. Early this morning a 1937 sedan owned by Margaret J. Tudor on West Tipton Street was hit by a unknown motorist causing about 35 dollars in damage. A second incident near Second Street involved Melvin Hardy’s 1941 sedan struck from behind by a southbound 1948 sedan driven by Alice Toborg. Toborg’s car sustained about 100 dollars in front-end damage while Hardy’s rear was only lightly damaged.

Private First Class Robert Deitz Jr is listed as missing in action in Korea on August 9. His parents of Freetown say the report is an error after receiving letters postmarked August 20 and 23 and a 11 day delayed letter dated later. A War Department telegram also informed them of the MIA designation.

Purdue official J C Ralston reported record entries including 1250 calves with 538 beef steers and 500 dairy heifers. Prizes total 22000 for 4-H competition and overall cash awards reach 314369 across nine days.

The speech would cover international affairs, the Korea conflict, and domestic controls, with timing not set and television broadcast expected. In Franklin Indiana on August 29 civil defense leaders staged a simulated wartime air evacuation on U S Highway 31. An emergency landing was made by one plane and a second aircraft rescued a high ranking defense official from the first plane. The drill was led by Robert D Wolf with observers Lt Gov John A Watkins and state civil defense officials.
Allied troops repelled Red assaults on two fronts along the Korean war line Tuesday. North Koreans massed at the center for a major push against UN forces while a separate attack at the southern front failed after fierce hand to hand fighting on a hill. Pohang remained in UN control as Kigye was recaptured. Britain’s first contingent of 1,500 troops arrived in the south.

The birth certificate at Clarence House lists her full style as Her Royal Highness Princess Anne Elizabeth Alice Louise of Edinburgh. Edinburgh marks Prince Philip’s ducal title since 1947.
